If you understood what made American Beauty such an incredible movie, you'll love Serial Experiments: Lain. So if you are looking for a thought-provoking way to spend about five and a half hours of your time, I cannot recommend this more. ![]() This is an intentional counterpoint to the more natural looking animation, often consisting more of still paintings than movement, and the effect is stunning. The email explains that this classmate isnt really dead, but rather has merely. In keeping true to the Zen Buddhist traditions of Japan, the animation style is often minimalistic, offset by the frenetic chaos of the computer animation added to it. 'Serial Experiments Lain' is about a middle school girl named Lain, who receives an email from a classmate that died. The answers can only be understood, never explained. It raises more questions than could possibly be answered given the limitations of language. The story is never judgemental, it simply gives you things to think about. The purpose is to make you think about your own place in life, and how you deal with it. Nor does it ever come straight out and explain itself or what is going on. Note that this is NOT an action-packed story, nor does it lessen itself by trying to cater to the lowest common denominator. This 13-part series, spanning 4 DVDs, is the best aspects of American Beauty, The Sixth Sense, 2001, and (to a lesser degree) The Matrix rolled into one subtle and beautiful story. The fact that such an email could easily be faked is irrelevant, but instead we focus on how Lain's perspective changes as she learns to deal with life. After receiving an email from a classmate who committed suicide a few days earlier, Lain begins to examine the world, society, god, self, technology, and how these concepts fit together. The story follows Lain, a shy, adolescent school girl. Doing so would be like comparing Schindler's List to The Kentucky Fried Movie. Don't let the word anime turn you off, folks. This series is to anime in general what films like American Beauty are to movies in general. Sorry for long explanation and my grammature.Last night I finally received the last of 4 DVDs in this mind-blowing series. Then i think if lain is adopted girl human(anime(i forgot the episode) and related with girl with glasses(anime) or girl with obsessed with wired but masami said that lain is just software.Īt last lain is back after meet with her dad and meet arisu(i think several years after that deal with masami). When at last episode(anime), we can see if nobody knowledge about lain except arisu(alice), her dad and the boy(?). Visually, she is characterized by her short, brown, asymmetrical hair, one lock of which is secured by a hairclip. Iwakura Lain ( Iwakura Rein, also rendered as, lain or ) is the main protagonist of the series. Lain has ability to connect in wired without using tools like administrator/ super user(maybe).(gods of wired world.?) The day after a classmate commits suicide, Lain, a 14-year-old girl, discovers how closely. There is the wired world, inside the computer, of images, personalities, virtual experiences, and a culture all of its own. In manga, i guess if lain is chosen by masami with he did in seven s look if masami repair her dools. There is the world around us, a world of people, tactile sensation, and culture. (i make another explain)įirst, i think lain is just shy girl with identity disorder.in anime, manga or game psx too. In another site, i comment about explanation about lain.
